  1. What makes Aruba Aloe different from other skincare brands?
    The world of skin and body care is growing faster than ever. New brands pop up daily. And while you might just be getting to know us, we’ve been around a bit longer: for over 130 years. Around the end of the 19th century, we took our very first steps in crafting aloe vera products. In the 60’s we started making aloe based skin and body care. Planted, harvested, and processed right here on Aruba – to this very day. The fact that aloe vera is our main ingredient is no coincidence: Aruba grows the finest aloe in the world. It is the true pride of our island. The core of our collection. The heart of everything we do. So if you’re asking what makes us different: our heritage, our aloe.

  2. What is the story behind Aruba Aloe?
    It is a story of love, culture, and heritage. It all began in the 19th century. Aloe vera grew into a massive industry on our island, and Aruba’s entire economy began to flourish around the aloe vera plant. We became the largest aloe exporter in the world. Over the years, it has earned a defining place in our culture. On the national coat of arms, you will find an aloe plant. We even earned the title ‘Island of Aloes’.   3. How long has Aruba Aloe been growing aloe vera in Aruba?
    Aloe vera was introduced to our island in 1840. But we’ve been growing aloe vera since 1890. To this day, our fields and factory are still in the exact same location where everything once started.

  4. Why is Aruba Aloe considered the world's finest aloe?
    Aruba grows the finest aloe in the world. That has everything to do with our climate. We have a dry, calcareous soil. Plenty of sun, little rain. It’s the perfect environment for aloe to grow. The exact conditions found in Aruba cannot be found in any other aloe producing country.

    All of our aloe vera comes from our very own fields, right here in Aruba. Together, our fields cover 60 hectare. Our production facility, storage, offices, and the aloe vera museum sit on that exact same spot. Everything we do – from harvesting to packaging – takes place in one single location, here in Aruba.

  1. What makes aloe vera from Aruba different from regular aloe vera?

The major difference lies in the conditions in which the plant grows. The exact conditions found in Aruba cannot be found in any other aloe producing country. In most countries the soil is completely different. There is less sun. It’s colder and more humid. Plants die off sooner. They are not growing in their natural environment. That has a major impact on the quality of the plant and the gel that’s extracted from it.

  1. What are the benefits of aloe vera for your skin? 

When you think of aloe vera, you probably think of hydration, cooling and skin repair. But aloe does so much more. It relieves itching. It calms the skin. It’s anti-inflammatory. It’s very friendly for different skin types. It even helps burn wounds heal. Read more about the benefits of aloe.

  1. Does aloe vera help hydrate and soothe the skin? 

Absolutely. Hydration and soothing are two very important benefits of aloe vera. No plant hydrates better than aloe. The gel that comes from the aloe vera leaf consists of 99% water. But it is also packed with vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. The reason aloe vera is so hydrating is very simple: the sugar molecules (polysaccharides) in the aloe gel attract water (this is what we call a 'hygroscopic effect'). They lock it in and bind it to your skin. Because of this, the hydration lasts. So if your skin is dry or sunburned, some aloe vera would be the perfect solution.


  1. Is aloe vera suitable for sensitive skin? 

Aloe vera is one of the most friendly products for sensitive skin. It’s naturally a gentle and hydrating product that works wonders for dry, irritated, or damaged skin. It is low in allergens. Just keep in mind that you are often buying a cream or skincare product that contains other ingredients alongside aloe vera; those ingredients can, of course, still irritate your skin. Additionally, there is one important medical exception: if you have an allergy to plants in the lily family, aloe is obviously not right for your skin. Our skincare contains high levels of pure aloe and is very suitable for sensitive skin.

  1. Why does Aruba Aloe combine nature and science?
    It begins with aloe, but it doesn’t end there. We use science to make the best nature has even better. We add active ingredients to improve performance. We are constantly researching our aloe gel and its benefits. We run stability tests, temperature tests, microbiological tests. We create warm scents, honest formulas, the finest textures. There is a common belief that if something is 100% natural, it works better. The truth is different. The sweets pot lies in the balance between nature and science.

  2. Are Aruba Aloe products made with natural ingredients?
    Our aloe vera is 100% natural. We only use pure aloe gel, freshly harvested and hand-cut right from our fields in Aruba. Most aloe vera products on the market are made from concentrates, like powders. When you do that, you end up with a product that barely contains any real aloe anymore; you lose the active compounds, making it far less potent. Next to our aloe, we also use consciously selected synthetic ingredients. After all, we create skincare, so we must ensure your product stays fresh and performs optimally. We always aim to be as natural as possible, but the reality is that no true cosmetic product is ever 100% natural. Every lab-developed ingredient we use meets the highest industry standards. They are completely safe for both you and the planet.

  3. Are Aruba Aloe products considered clean beauty?
    ‘Clean beauty’ is a tricky claim. There are many different standards for what 'clean' actually means. Of course, we use as many natural ingredients as possible, and the non-natural components we do use are always clean. They meet the highest standards. We select every single ingredient with the utmost care, always asking ourselves: what is scientifically proven? Do we know it works? What does nature do best, and what does science do best? So, it would be very easy for us to claim that we sell clean beauty. But we prefer to not do it, because it is such a subjective term. What we do say: our products are as clean as they can possibly be. You are more than welcome to call that clean beauty.

  4. What ingredients are used alongside aloe vera?
    Pure and fresh aloe vera gel is always our main ingredient. It provides hydration, soothing, and recovery. We use it in all our products. Next to that, we often add vitamin E. This is a potent antioxidant that helps repair and protect the skin. Other ingredients we love to use are coconut oil and jojoba oil, thanks to their nourishing and conditioning properties. The exact ingredients are always listed on the product itself. So you know exactly what you are putting on your skin.


  1. Are Aruba Aloe products clinically tested?
    Partly. Our medical cream – alhydran cream – is clinically tested. The same goes for our fermented aloe products and our native aloe vera gel. But our cosmetic products are not clinically tested; that is not common practice anyway. Of course, we do run stability tests, temperature tests, and microbiological tests to ensure the product responds well to different temperatures and doesn't spoil. We also do a lot of panel testing. We let people use our products and learn from their feedback. How does it work? How does it feel on the skin? In short: we run a multitude of lab and practical tests to create the best possible product. Our aloe has proven to increase skin recovery, improve skin hydration, and enhance skin elasticity. It also helps improve skin firmness with repeated use. And it supports collagen-related activity.

Sustainable in every way

  1. How does Aruba Aloe grow and harvest its aloe vera?
    We cultivate our aloe vera on our own 60 hectare plantation, surrounding our factory in Hato. Harvesting is done by hands that carry generations of knowledge. We hand-pick the finest leaves. Right after harvesting, we bring the aloe straight to the factory for fresh processing. We extract the gel, grind and filter it, and then transform it into skincare products. We are the only aloe company – and one of the few skincare brands – that handle everything under one roof.

  2. What is regenerative farming and why does Aruba Aloe use it?
    Regenerative farming goes beyond organic farming. It does not just focus on minimizing harm (no pesticides, no artificial fertilizers), but on actively restoring and improving the ecosystem. It is about building a healthy, living soil, increasing biodiversity, and restoring the water balance. We apply these principles because we believe that it shouldn't just be your skin that benefits from our aloe, but also Aruba, the people, the land.

  3. Is Aruba Aloe sustainably produced?
    Sustainability is incredibly important to us. It lives in everything we do: from the way we cultivate and harvest, to the impact we have on our island. Our entire farming process is regenerative (meaning we don't drain the earth, but make it healthier instead). We do this, for example, by immediately returning the leftover peels from filleting the aloe vera straight back to our fields as natural mulch and fertilizer. We use no harmful chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. We also leave native trees standing on our plantation to protect the Aruban ecosystem. Of course, sustainability extends to our packaging too: our bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic. And then there is social sustainability: Aruba profits from everything we do. By keeping our operations entirely in-house and local, we contribute significantly to the local economy. For us, sustainability isn’t an afterthought. It is woven into everything.

    Aloe vera is a very accessible product. For instance, it’s perfect for sensitive skin. Because our products contain a high percentage of pure aloe gel, they work well for different skin types. In short: you can pick any Aruba Aloe skincare product without a worry.

  2. Which Aruba Aloe products are best for dry, sensitive, or dehydrated skin?
    All of our skincare products contain a high percentage of pure aloe gel. This means that they all work well for dry or sensitive skin. If you want to go for the product with the absolute highest percentage of aloe, take a look at our Ultra-Intensive Aloe Cream.
